QUEEN'S AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE

The Queens Award for Voluntary Service is described as the MBE for volunteer groups. The AVFS was extremely proud and delighted to be awarded this in the summer of 2015 for our services to The Shuttleworth Collection. Presenting the award on behalf of our late Queen, HM Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, described the AVFS as a “unique and prestigious charity” who are “a model of how dedicated volunteers can build a strong professional team over many years”. This significant award was cited for providing and maintaining an emergency fire and rescue service for the benefit of Bedfordshire and protecting the world’s aviation heritage.
