Fire 5

Fire 5 is a vehicle designed and equipped to carry out the role of Category 1 response as well as Domestic Incidents. Fire 5 has an on-board foam tank, which holds 50L which feeds through an in-line inductor system. It can be used to carry out Category 2 operations when accompanied by another vehicle similarly equipped to Category 1 which would give the combined capacity for media, equipment and personnel. Fire 5 was donated to the Airfield Volunteer Fire Service by Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service. The base vehicle is a 1991 Land Rover 127 with a V8 Petrol engine and 5 speed gearbox, with permanent 4-wheel drive. It carries a crew of 2.
