Fire 3 is a vehicle designed and equipped to carry out the role of a Rapid Intervention Vehicle for Category 1 and H1 Rescue and Firefighting operations. It can be used to carry out Category 2 operations when accompanied by another vehicle similarly equipped to Category 1 which would give the combined capacity for media, equipment and personnel. The base vehicle is a 1990 Land Rover 110 with a Diesel engine and 5 speed gearbox, incorporating a two-speed transfer box, with permanent 4-wheel drive and a lockable center differential. It carries a crew of 2.
